Liam Rosenior (born July 9, 1984) is an English professional football manager and former player, currently the head coach of Chelsea FC in the Premier League.

Playing Career

Rosenior played as a versatile full-back or winger for clubs including:

  • Bristol City

  • Fulham

  • Reading

  • Hull City

  • Brighton & Hove Albion

He made over 400 appearances, notably reaching the 2014 FA Cup final with Hull. He retired in 2018.

Managerial Career

After coaching roles at Brighton and Derby County (as assistant under Wayne Rooney), he became head coach of Hull City in 2022, leading them to a strong Championship campaign before a controversial sacking in 2024.

He then managed RC Strasbourg in Ligue 1 (also under BlueCo ownership), guiding them to European qualification in his debut season (7th place).

On January 6, 2026, Chelsea appointed him head coach on a long-term contract until 2032, replacing Enzo Maresca. This marks his first Premier League managerial role and makes him one of the youngest coaches at a Big Six club.

Rosenior is praised for his modern, possession-based tactics, youth development, and articulate media presence. His appointment has been seen as a progressive, data-driven choice by Chelsea's owners, though some fans view it as risky due to his lack of top-flight experience.

He's the son of former player/manager Leroy Rosenior and has been vocal on diversity in coaching.

His first match in charge is upcoming (e.g., FA Cup or league fixtures soon). Welcome to the hot seat, Liam! 🔵
