September 1, 2025
Here’s what you need to know about the 2025 summer transfer window deadline day:
Key Details
Closing Date & Time
The summer 2025 transfer window closes on Monday, 1 September 2025, at 19:00 BST (UK time) — four hours earlier than the traditional 23:00 deadline.
The Split Window
Due to the expanded FIFA Club World Cup, the window was split:
First phase: June 1 – June 10
Pause: June 10 – June 16
Second phase: Reopened on June 16 and runs until September 1
Grace Periods
Clubs have a two-hour grace period after 19:00, provided they submitted a deal sheet by the deadline. International transfers may still be completed by midnight, in line with FIFA requirements.
European Synchronization
For the first time, the top five European leagues (Premier League, EFL, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1) all share this 19:00 BST / 2 p.m. ET closing time.
Exceptions include Saudi Pro League (closing September 10), Turkish Süper Lig (September 12), among others.
What Transfers Look Like on Deadline Day
Deadline day is always a frenzy—and this year is no different.
Liverpool, for instance, struck big with a £125–£130 million move for Alexander Isak, breaking British transfer records.
Other notable moves include:
Arsenal aiming for Piero Hincapié
Yoane Wissa linked with Newcastle
Corner cases like Manchester United seeking goalkeepers (e.g. Emiliano Martínez or Senne Lammens)
Manchester City eyeing Gianluigi Donnarumma & Rodrygo
The stakes are high, the pace is frantic, and the deals keep coming up until the final whistle.
